  •  You guys don't get Obama. (10+ / 0-)

You just don't.  He's not a Kossack, he's president.  If he prosecutes Bush then he opens later POTUSes up for the same prosecution.  If he gives into petty powergrab tactics over the debt limit, then he's making the case for the Unitarian Executive we all claimed to hate under Nixon and Bush2.

At some point, he has to represent the OFFICE not just his agenda.

Addington's perpwalk? TRAILHEAD of accountability for Bush-2 Crimes. @Hugh: There is no Article II power which says the Executive can violate the Constitution.

It is not exercising Unitary Executive power to use a remedy long enumerated in the Constitution, and germane to either Congress or the Executive Branch.

If his "agenda" isn't to keep this country up, running, and with the Treasury appropriately reflecting the full faith and credit of the United States of America, using any means available to him, regardless of the fucking "optics", then he's got the wrong job.

This all started with "what the Republicans did to language".

That's precisely why he needed to do it.

We should want future scofflaws to be prosecuted, especially if there are Presidents. I don't want my Presidents thinking that they are above the law--because they hold the keys to the most powerful military in the world! I don't understand why anyone thinks differently . . .

    •  Prosecuting Bush or Cheney was never in the cards (1+ / 0-)

...of course. But kossacks, myself included, were royally pissed off that Holder never prosecuted any of the CIA torturers (not to mention the bankers, which would have been MASSIVELY popular with the general public). John Yoo, or whatever his name is, not being prosecuted was/is an outrage.
