  •  One wonders about the vast resource collected (4+ / 0-)

    over decades in landfills (garbage dumps). Gathering and burning some methane seems like a very small response. At some point these sites are going to be intensively "mined" (or otherwise processed). If we haven't invented the necessary technology, that can be a point of focus. And if we have, the organizing of them should surely be begun. And, really maybe we need to nationalize all of these properties in trust for the benefit of the displaced.

    Not a current fix, certainly, but not yet even on the radar screen that I've been able to note.

    There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.
