for the fact that a big part of what Bobby Jindal is today is a result of experiences that happened in my state of Rhode Island. Our state is where he was going to college when he was converted from Hinduism to a very ultra conservative form of Catholicism. Supposedly he took part in exorcisms, which is something mainstream Catholicism is not involved in much these days.

of the alleged events. If you've got a link to the real think go ahead and post it. I'd love to see it.

real thing, assuming it really happened and isn't just a crazy rumor. As someone who grew up Catholic (and is an agnostic these days) , and had a Catholic education, here's what I can tell you about what the modern Catholic church teaches about exorcism. The power to exorcise demons is something the every priest has, but he just can't go around doing it. Any exorcism has to be approved by the local Bishop. And lay people aren't supposed to go around doing it. And while I was taught that the church believes some people can truly be possessed, it's very rare, and most of those who were thought to be possessed over the centuries probably had what we call mental illness today. So if he actually took part in one it probably wasn't an official Catholic exorcism. It might have been one of those ultra conservative breakaway sects, or it could have been an evangelical type preacher. I'd sure love to know the truth about it one way or another. Is is just a crazy rumor, or did something like this actually happen?
