From a more general perspective though, Bloomberg is showing his petulance here, offering his tainted cash on behalf of issue advocacy but then retaliating against dissenters when he doesn't get 100% of his way.  In this specific instance, Pryor may well benefit from Bloomberg's tin ear, but if this is the formula we can expect from Bloomberg after climbing in bed with him, it's eventually turn out badly for us.

Climbed into bed with him.  No one in the Senate or House has to be beholden to him, at least none of the "at risk" Senators.

Hopefully this serves as a good advance lesson then.  Because Bloomberg's gonna be throwing around even more money and influence when his mayoral tenure ends and there will be a lot of temptation to sell political souls for his pieces of silver.

I think we'll find most takers will be on the coasts, and fine not as much revulsion to the big money New yorker as say people in the deep south.

        •  he can throw money around (0+ / 0-)

I don't think he has any influence (except indirectly through money) outside the New York area.

as I said, this is the region he should focus on.  And why shouldn't he also punish Christie, who vetoed some gun control bills here in NJ?
