  •  An FDR for our times has not emerged (yet) (1+ / 0-)

When Obama whumped Hillary, I reluctantly joined the Obama crowd, and in the intervening years have come to believe that Hillary might have been a much worse choice than Obama.

For one thing, upon reflection I've gotten hinky about presidential dynasties. Just yesterday, Bill Clinton was flogging Chelsea (Chelsea!) as a future POTUS. Shudder.

While I think Hillary might have handled the RWCrazies better than Obama has (because she's practiced), it's likely she would have been twice the fodder for the Crazies. The anti-Hillary crazy has already started again in anticipation of 2012, and she hasn't even declared yet. Did you know she's a "Kenyan Muslin Socalist Femmnazi Lesbian Murderess? Even worse, she puts up with Bill ...".

We need an FDR in 2012. Obama certainly has not cut it as an FDR though I'm totally relieved he's finally grown a spine that's actually connected to his brain.

With respect to past elections, any realistic alternative, including Hillary, would have been worse. When it came down to it, our choice was McCain/Obama and Romney/Obama.

We need to figure out why and how were our choices were whittled down to this. That's the money question.

        I think I'm sane.

I'm totally pleased that he's sticking to his guns. Also, he's really left himself no room to renege, another positive sign. He seems to finally get it, that it's his own capitulations in the past that have led to this crisis, and is doubling down on standing firm this time. We'd be in a much worse position had Romney been elected.

capituation? Romneycare aka Obamacare isn't capitulation?  What the too big to fail banks got away with isn't capitulation? You're right, it's more akin to collaboration with the enemy than mere capitulation.

would be a top President in all history. It's just we're in a time when the political and finance status quo is wildly, even proudly, corrupt and disassociated from the life of ordinary people.

He's been trying to fortify the current structures, when what they need is to be redone entirely.

I don't think he has a world-view which understands just how demented our Establishments have become; or if he does, then not the vision, will, or confidence to be an FDR, to challenge the assumptions of the Best People.

In January 2009 we had a chance to establish a new epoch in American history. I don't know when that chance will come around again.
