    And opportunists will make money shorting.  That is not illegal and I do it myself.  But if you have enough capital to engineer this crisis you run the risk of losing more of it in lost value than you could make shorting.  Shorting is a small player's game.  The Big Boys need stability.

      these days are not Wall Street. Wall Street wants the Mitt Romney-types to win, not the Ted Cruz-types.

      But the "Big Boys" will back whomever wins the power struggle within the GOP, even if it happens to be the Teabagger nuts, because the Big Boys hate taxes on the wealthy that much.

        But the Big Boys aren't going to erase their wealth just to save a few bones on taxes.  

        Again, this notion that default is somehow a good deal for the rich is just nonsense.  If anything, fighting default is one area where the rich and the not-so-rich are very much aligned in common cause against the crazy.
