  •  If it's 'clean'... (5+ / 0-)

He signs it and writes a signing statement that states he is signing it to extend the debt limit only and it in no way indicates he is 'negotiating' with the GOP.  If it isn't clean - like stating 'by signing this bill, the President agrees to immediate negotiations' - then he doesn't sign it - or he signs it with a signing statement saying he is going to ignore that part.

    •  It's really irrelevant legally (15+ / 0-)

since no president can be bound to such a silly requirement let alone any predetermined outcome, but I'm sure he'd attach such a disclaimer to make it clear for the peanut gallery crowd. It's amazing just how infantile these Repubs can be. They might as well be demanding a popsicle.

Actually, signing a bill that says he'll negotiate is a perfect way to end the stalemate, if it reopens the government and raises the debt limit. After all, those are the terms Obama is offering, so why not put them in writing?

I think that if Obama refuses a 6 week extension that Boehner will offer longer to avoid default. But if he doesn't then Obama should sign the 6 week bill and go from there. It's shitty, but Boehner has that power, and is probably more willing to crash in this game of chicken.

        No deal.

Show up with a clean fucking deal, Boehner. This is bullshit dirty hostage taking and if Obama signs this shit, he's a fool.

Boehner does in fact have the power of the purse stated quite clearly in our Constitution.

However, with that power comes the responsibility to manage the purse strings responsibly and not wield that power for petty political points.

If this country doesn't kick the Republicans out of the House after all this...I'll... I'll....   i'll continue to be disgusted.  ugh.

Obama is offering to negotiate if Boehner makes this deal. If this deal shows up stating the deal, including Obama negotiating, then all it does is seal the deal.

You might have a problem with the deal. I know you do, though I disagree with you about that. But that is the deal. To refuse to include Obama's part of the deal would would accomplish nothing. Except to fail to make the deal.

Or are you just trying to balance Boehner's craziness with your own? I suppose that's a role for someone opposing Boehner, but it's not doing any good here in the comments where Boehner and Obama don't see them. It's just craziness for its own sake.

          •  You should have stopped at the end (0+ / 0-)

of your second paragraph, because all your "appearance of reasonable" went right out the window with the third one. Way to go, slick!

Mr. Obama does not need to deal. I don't know what it's going to take to get the handful of fluffers out on the Internetz to understand that people aren't buying that bullshit.

And they're not going to buy it no matter how many times you say it over and over and over and over. If there's anything here that's crazy besides the Tea Party, it's a bunch of you repeating this crap and expecting a different result. NO, dude. Just NO.

            •  Does Not Need to Deal (0+ / 0-)

HE HAS AGREED TO NEGOTIATE ONCE THE SHUTDOWN AND DEBT CEILING ARE OVER.

You are disagreeing with Obama putting that agreement in writing. And you are saying that's not what you're disagreeing with. That's as crazy as Boehner.
