I was waiting for someone to diary it (I've been running around so didn't have time), as it's SUCH a jaw-dropping headline from the NYTimes.

Through gerrymandering and supporting Tea Party groups, the Chamber of Commerce and other big lobbying firms created this Frankenstein's monster and now they don't know how to walk it back, because they don't have influence over these groups anymore.

It would be funny if it weren't so fucking dangerous to everyone else.

being taken off the table and about big business trying to moderate this standoff, and thought I might be mis-reading things, but when I saw that conditions were going to be attached to an effort to raise the debt ceiling and that it would only run till the Christmas season, I thought nope, the House really cannot figure a way out of the mess they've brought upon themselves and the country.  The Tea Party is funded (mostly against their knowledge) by the Kochs and big business and they mistrust big business to an extent because they see how rich those guys are while they're scraping the bottom of the barrel.  Now big business wants to tell them to pass the debt ceiling increase and they've been told for years the debt ceiling is worth dieing over so they're not willing to give up that hostage either.

This will not end well, for any of us.
