  •  I always liked the idea (8+ / 0-)

of them being the Washington Hogs, both as a homage to the "Hogs" of the 80's and a parody of politicians.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." T. Roosevelt

to Pigskins -- would fit just as well in the team song, would salute the Hogs of the 80s, a reference to the actual ball used, and a reference to politicians and pork barrel politics. And just think of the money Snyder could make selling new jerseys and gear with the new name, maybe even a cartoon pig in a football helmet as a logo. (Might pose an issue for Jewish and Muslim fans, but it's not like they're eating the pig, just rooting for it.)

There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- goddammit, you've got to be kind. -- Kurt Vonnegut
