    Florida to impose a permit system on people who were keeping Burmese Pythons, since even back in the 90's it was apparent to anyone involved in reptile rescue that 90% of the people who had them SHOULDN'T, and most of them would end up dead or released. (I was a pretty well-known reptile writer at the time, so I had at least a wee bit of "expert" status on the matter.)

    Florida finally did impose a permit system for large constrictor snakes, but did it 10 years too late.

    In the end, reality always wins.
