band of opinion that matters in most gerrymandered-to-shit GOP congressional districts. Their reality is not about national polls. It's about the will of the 20% of radical GOP voters who get them elected, and who are far more conservative, selfish, delusional, and stupid than the average American.

for all those Republicans who are not from deep red districts. That and the fact that the big bucks have spoken.

      The teaparty fever has broken.

exist -- and they are the big bucks that matter to the radicals, and the reason the latter are able to say FU to the GOP establishment. So since the Koch billions, and Ginni Thomas' radical conspirators ain't going anywhere soon, I beg to differ. This problem will be with us for some time to come.

but I think their hold on the Republican party will be diminished.

You see this kind of stuff in our parliamentary system, quite frequently. A populist narcissist in one of the right wing parties starts making noise. First the party will try to constrain the rebel. The rebel gets a following and breaks away to form a new party. The mainstream party sees part of their base moving away, and starts moving to the right.

The rebel leader suddenly has to form a party, and manages to find the biggest scumbags imaginable. Next election they win big but within a very short period, they are rolling on the ground fighting with each other. We find out the new party members, spend time in prison or have some skeleton in the closet. Next election their numbers shrink and eventually the party disappears or becomes so small, that they do not matter anymore and everything is back to normal again until the next itteration stands up.

          Wash, rinse, repeat.

Watching Ted Cruz speak this morning, is like watching an alternative universe. I had to switch to HGTV, LOL, it was just too disturbing and I needed some pablum.

isn't it? He and his delusional followers range from certifiably loony to crazy like a fox. Either way, they operate in a very different astral plane than the rest of us.
