    tall. As they approach the shelf and shore they may/are likely to get taller so the storm surge will be terrible.

    Think of the images of that tsunami of a few years ago, 2004.
    It originated on the other side of the Indian Ocean between Indonesia and the Andaman Islands yet affected this same Indian coast (to the south).
    That tsunamis effect on the shore of Thailand had the surge going far inland and scouring everything away.
