  •  Every day improves (10+ / 0-)

I've been there every day, and every night around 3 AM.  They do close it down every night for maintenance.  Two big problems to get going: at first there was no place to log out.  So I suspect everyone who got discouraged was "timed out" which could have taken a lot of space.

Second, and this relates to Republican induced paranoia, is the levels of security.  You have to answer many more security questions than the IRS asks when you telephone the IRS for tax issues.  So far, I have not made it past the security questions, so I have not been able to do any comparison shopping for my state.

With time, this will be resolved.  Because for a potential savings of $500 per month, my family member will not give up.

    I'm from Johnson City.

    •  You can shop for plans now! (0+ / 0-)

      Without logging in. Here:

      •  (Note the prices aren't exact though) n/t (0+ / 0-)
      •  Here is how you get a quote during the start up (0+ / 0-)

Go to the link above and answer the questions. This will take you to a general quote page that also shows the insurance companies and HMOs that offer coverage in your area. Then, simply go to the insurers' websites directly (Google them) and follow the links to get a quote. Only Kaiser Permanente cannot give quotes now since they do not give them more than 60 days in advance of enrollment.

This is how I was able to find out the costs here in Virginia. I have tried perhaps 50 times to fill out an application on Once last week, I got about half the application filled out. Since then, it just hangs up after logging in, or give an error message. I have done everything conceivable from my end to make this work, e.g., 4 different browsers, cleared the caches, cookies, etc. I am computer literate. I feel sorry for the people who don't even have access to a computer, or have no navigator to help them. We are missing the boat for now.
