    I haven't seen another pundit phrase it like I did but it is an obvious pivot.  The polls show that both sides are hurt but that Repubs are far more hurt (rightfully so, obviously).  But they also overwhelmingly show that they don't want the shutdown to continue.  Some people mistakenly think the impasse is because Obama isn't willing to negotiate.

    Phrase it my way and the two choices for Republicans are:  a) say "no, the shutdown continues until we complete negotiations" or b) capitulate.  For reasonable independents and moderates it removes all doubt whom is to blame.

    One of the FP'ers should take up this cause, IMO. Kos? Joan? Jed?  Bueller?  Bueller? Anyone?

    (With that said, I tend to believe the advisors to the WH know more than me.  I think starting off with my phrasing would have been wrong but now is the time to pivot especially because it seems things have bogged down a bit today.)
