  •  O/T, but I have to say, that's quite a figure. (2+ / 0-)

It represents about 18 percent of the whole population.  I wonder whether the NIMH has ever heard the old saw about how when you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

So if you are have ever been anxious because you are one paycheck away from the street and can't afford medical care, you are contributing to "mental illness" statistics.

"Mental illness" is how psychiatry describes a dysfunctional social system. That way, the actual perpetrators of social dysfunction are protected, and their victims are stigmatized as "defective", and also fed drugs that enrich Big Pharma.

Psychiatrists effectively work for Pharma. Pharma writes the manual of "mental illnesses" (DSM) in the same way ALEC writes legislation. Psychiatrists just vote on DSM committees the way Pharma has paid them to vote.

    •  I think this counts as "improv." (1+ / 0-)

Yep. Too bad he's just making shit up. Next, he'll be telling the crowd he's Paul Bunyan and, astride his blue ox, Mike Lee, he'll be chopping down the deficit from sea to shining sea.

It is actually about 2/3% of the total population of the nation, not 18%.
