  •  Not entirely Obama and the centrists are after (2+ / 0-)

old people.  Mark Warner, Rendell, Bowles, Durbin, even Pelosi with CCPI.

The Democratic Party is not showing a lot of love for its older citizens.  It treats us like we're annoying baggage.

You can't blame older Americans for listening.  And it's not only the Republicans pitting the middle class against the poor.  The Republicans don't want to tax the middle class.  They just don't want to fund the poor.  The Democratic centrists want to take benefits from the middle class and give them to the poor.  Neither is willing to go after the wealthy.  The wealthy in both parties are happy to see the middle class and poor fight it out for increasingly less funding.  Heck, that's what's happening with the sequester.

    •  D's oppose the sequester (0+ / 0-)

      that's a fact.

    •  Dems have had tax increases on the table (0+ / 0-)

and tax reform to get rid of some of the big entitlements, but it's a non-starter with the Rs.

Rs refuse to increase revenue by any means - all increases have to be matched with decreases elsewhere - and the elsewhere is with low income people, unemployed, seniors.

      So what's the option?
