  •  Yes we have forgotten, and by we, I mean the (5+ / 0-)

    American labor movement.

I lost it with a woman in a gas station a while back. She was going on about  unions and not in a nice way.

And I started yelling about those who died for what she has now. "Like for example, does your 8 year old go to school instead of to a factory for 10 or 12 hours a day!"

Well, I've been loosing it in public more frequently lately and they'll probably haul me away one of these days. But feeling more and more, like why should the Texas Teabaggers get all the free speech while we keep our mouths shut.

Now, this woman is a low-wage worker, and absolutely her child would have been working in some horrible place 100 years ago.

No, working class people don't realize these normal parts of modern life that they so take for granted, the price that was paid for that.

What I want, and will keep working for, even if it might never happen is that working people will know the names: Ludlow, Calumet, Lattimer, Thibodaux, etc and that these names will resonate with them as a class the same way that The Alamo resonates with Texans as Texans and Valley Forge resonates with Americans as citizens.

Perhaps that goal is too far fetched. But that's my goal and I'm sticking to it.

God spare me the Heart to fight them... I'll fight the Pirates forever. -Mother Jones
