    They took away my hide-rating button, even though I never used it... might've used it here, though.

    One does not need to "hate Obama" in order to be wary of his willingness to betray basic Democratic Party principles. Current case in point: the TPP, AKA the Trans-Pacific Partnership, AKA NAFTA on steroids. Or the inclusion, in his proposed budget (released in the spring), of cuts to Social Security.
    This President has, time and time again, given away the store before negotiations even begin.
    In fact, I believe he will eventually once again cave, but in exchange for his whatever concessions he gives up, he'll insist that the debt ceiling law be modified (or scrapped) so that it can't be used as a weapon again. Which is something, I suppose.

      Something not too painful, in exchange for changing the law to take debt ceiling authority away from Congress.  And hopefully you could do something about shutting govt down too.

      As this diary says, the entire point of not compromising is that you have to kill the tactic.  Doing so legislatively and decisively, for an acceptable price, would be a good outcome.
