It's ALL an equal problem under the principle the president has set forth, which is that you cannot hold the majority hostage over routine government onus, such as funding the government and raising the debt ceiling. You cannot undo the results of the last election.

While the default is the scariest thing, there are so many Americans stripped of their paychecks because of the horrendous behavior of the republicans. It is reprehensible and this is a very important part of the message that needs to be delivered.

If the president allows the shut down to continue by negotiating out of fear over the debt ceiling, the message is the same to the GOP---this is working for us. And recent history shows us they will never stop trying to grow any small win into a bigger catastrophe.

IMO, it's a do or die moment, and yeah, it's scary as hell. But I think the president must say no to anything but re-opening the government and getting the debt ceiling raised, without concessions, or at least without any concessions that matter more than a dry bone.

"A typical vice of American politics is the avoidance of saying anything real on real issues." Theodore Roosevelt.
