  •  Texas Is Where Its At (9+ / 0-)

I have a close relative who is a state representative in a state other than Texas.  He is in a swing district.  He lost (barely) in his first attempt in 2006 to a forced-birther, beat her in 2008, lost in 2010, and won again in 2012.  He worked his butt off each and every one of those elections because he had to.

Meanwhile, the state Dem. Party leadership are all long-term incumbents who get elected every year from safe districts.  They have no clue what it's like to have to face real opposition each and every election cycle.

But the control of the legislature doesn't hinge on whether or not they work hard - they never do.  Control depends on the dedicated people like my relative that have to go all in every election cycle.  And since he lost in 2010 his seniority is pushed down and he gets appointed to some of the crumbiest committees.

And this is exactly what you are talking about.  Texas hasn't been a swing district but demographics show that it is becoming one.  It's people like Wendy Davis who work hard at turning Texas BLUE that are going to put the final stake in the heart of the Tea Party - forever.

We definitely need to support you in your efforts.  Wendy Davis is a hero and I will be sending her money - regularly.

All that having been said, I still have a special disdain for the state that is home to a certain football team - can't remember its name though.

Someday soon Republicans are going to drown Grover Norquist - in a bathtub.
