  •  Well done, sir. (9+ / 0-)

That diary this morning was way out of line and totally inappropriate. I'm sick of people bad mouthing my state on this blog. A lot of the ire seems to come from people who live in CA. Yes, the same state that elected the Guvernator twice. You talk about Bush coming from our state, well Reagan (another actor, learn from your mistakes much?) came from CA.

My wife, who is from India, and, as an immigrant, has a pretty objective view. She works at a major university in Texas in diversity issues. She recently went to visit her sister in CA, and had to put a woman there in her place. She was bad mouthing Texas for it's conservative nature and talking about how it was just this homogeneous conservative blob. She also happened to be a professor in a university in CA who worked in diversity as well. My wife reminded this person that CA has it's conservative regions as well (OC anyone?) and that working in diversity in CA is no where near as challenging as working in a place like Texas. In addition, she pointed out that some of the earliest cases of discrimination that made it to the SC came out of California, with one of them being from UC-Berkeley itself. And these were cases where CA was being the discriminator. So quit bragging about your big achievement of turning a blue state, well, blue, and help us. Bashing our state is undeserved, and your state clearly has problems, too. So stop the smuggery and remember that we're all on the same team.

I've jumped through the suppression hurdle in Texas and got myself deputized to help register people to vote in Texas to GOTV for Sen. Wendy Davis? WTF have you done? Bad-mouthed Texas? Well good for you and STFU!

    •  I will be doing that as well (4+ / 0-)

and working as an election judge. And I'm gonna travel to red precincts to do it.

Thanks for your support, and good on you for your efforts.

for when Perry went to California to bash California and try to entice business to move to Texas. He is a real jerk but it is kinda hard to separate the people from the person since he was elected 3 times.!!!

I own a farm on a somewhat busy highway and the state owns its 60' right of way. Now Texas only mows 60% of the right of way ONCE a year.

I try to get the other land owners to not mow and make the state maintain the property but the republican property owners feel proud to help the Republican Party and pay more taxes by mowing the state right of way. Any way to screw over a Democrat wanting to make the republican leaders look bad.

There's lots of good stories but I can say to any company in California looking to move to Texas, they will have to pay an added expense for someone with a tractor to mow the weeds on their highway frontage.
