...mostly due to my status as a middle-aged man shooing kids off his lawn.

There is something about her, though; some mix of talent, lyrical facility, and ability to write hooks that is making me reassess her potential.

Part of me recognizes that a lot of what she's doing -- transgressive sexuality, "making fame her bitch", and so on --  is stuff Madonna was doing 30 years ago, and Cher before that.

Something in her touch with lyrics, her singing ability, and her comfort with experimentation, makes me think she could become something truly game-changing as her career matures.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. -Bertrand Russell

The group is On The Rocks, a group from the University of Oregon. I know we're supposed to be straight up a capella during the shutdown, but someone snuck in an instrument or two.

I'm old enough to remember the Beach Boys back when they were the new kids on the block (so to speak) so there's a lot of today's music I don't care for, but I can recognize talent when I see it, and Lady Gaga has plenty of talent. In addition to Cher and Madonna she apparently took a page from Muhammad "I Am The Greatest" Ali, telling herself over and over that she was the best at what she does until it became true. The power of positive thinking strikes again.

This signature CLOSED due to the Republican-created Federal Government shutdown.
