  •  It's a solid enough ad, BUT... (1+ / 0-)

I think a lot of Christie's Dem support comes from the idea that he could be President, so I'm not sure it's a huge negative for him that Buono might think it is.

I'd like to see an ad that highlights NJ voting for Democrat Obama in 2012, voting for Democrat Booker two weeks ago and that she's asking Democrats and Independents across New Jersey to get out and vote once again for the Democratic candidate Governor in New Jersey - close the ad with Christie throwing Repub red meat in his speech at the last RNC and the words "Barbara Buono, Democrat for Governor"

I think it's a misguided sense that propping up Christie will help revive "reasonable" Republicanism. Which is what I suspect many rich Democrats basically wish were still politically viable so they could be part of it. But we've seen this movie before. The second he runs for president, he'll become what the right-wing wants him to be. And he's a pale imitation of Nelson Rockefeller to begin with. Rocky signed one of the first abortion legalization bills ever, while Christie is anti-choice, for example.

I've long thought Buono would be wise to point out the backroom deals Christie has made with the bosses and promise transparency.
