  •  "I got overrun" is an attack ad (6+ / 0-)

It's pretty clear this fall in House races we should be running against the GOP House itself.  Its dysfunction, chaos, paralysis, inability to pass anything except the most batshit crazy lunatic nonsense.  That kind of Paralysis just within one party should disqualify the party from controlling the chamber.

    That's our campaign message.

And it's entirely reality-based, with non-stop quotes and footage.

That's one leg of the stool we run on.

The second leg should be a legislative agenda, a listicle if you will, harken back to Newt's "Contract to America."  Except our listicle should be "Rebuilding the Middle Class."  That's what most Americans who are nonpartisan or soft partisan, disenchanted with the major parties, care about.  Put together a legislative wish list of popular things, as measured by polls and focus groups.  Some old like the minimum wage, some new like whatever can be picked from the brains of Neera Tanden and others at Center for American Progress and other smart liberal think tanks that actually think about economic policy.

The main handicap we have next November is that voters don't trust Democratic monopoly rule.  Earning that trust requires a specific, digestible agenda that honestly addresses the things voters care about most.

I've been thinking about that. Senate likely to be Democratic after 2016, right? No way to arrange it but swapping control of the chambers for Obama's last two years might be more productive. Normally that would be fantasy but given the heavily red state playing field in Senate races maybe it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.

but it would be a real kicker if they have audio of him saying this.
