...will come to an end in either 2016 or 2018, that's my guess.

So the bad news is that we have to put up with him for quite a while longer.

so why one of those years?  Well, we all know that Cruz has his eye on a presidential run, so we can hope that when that ends as badly as it deserves to, he'll go off in a corner to cry, and leave the rest of us alone.

Alternatively, if he stays in the Senate and opts to run for reelection in 2018, I think he has a real shot at being the first Republican to lose a statewide race in a general election since 1994.  Why?  Partly it's the demographic changes that are happening here in Texas.  But that's only part of it.

The other part of it is that the man is a really, really bad Senator.  Bad to the point where he makes Phil Gramm look good by comparison.  How so?  Phil Gramm was a complete jackass...but he still made some effort to look after the interests of the state that he represented.  Ted Cruz, on the other hand, makes it very clear in everything he does that he's entirely about the national conservative movement, and that he doesn't give a crap about what happens to Texas.  For that matter, Phil Gramm also showed some loyalty to his party, whereas Ted Cruz shows none...a favor that I expect to see quietly returned by at least some establishment Republicans when they have a chance to do so.
