    They have no compassion for all of the other people who are hurt by the shut-down. They didn't vote to get screwed. They voted to screw everyone else, while believing that themselves would be taken care of.

    It isn't a question of them not understanding how Republican polices would effect them and voting against their own self-interest. They were entirely voting for what was best for them, which included stripping the government of the money needed to do anything that didn't personally benefit them. They don't give a damn about everyone else, they just want their benefits to continue. If they had any actual principles then they would be willing to be pay the price for smaller government.
