and send it back with a big vote, isolating the nuttiest few. It will sail to the Senate and get signed.

They've already surrendered on the big stuff.

    •  Will only need 40-50 GOP votes max... (2+ / 0-)

possibly as little as 17 if all Dems in the House vote for it, but I think it will lose 30 or so Dem votes from the left because it extends the sequester spending level (though doing nothing it would have been extended anyways).

Boehner can choose not to bring it to the floor, but if this gets 65-70 Senate votes as it should with McConnell's backing, than Boehner would have tremendous pressure to put it to a floor vote and if he didn't there would be no escaping his and the House GOP's full ownership of the debt ceiling default.

Now Boehner and the GOP can try to amend the legislation or something to add a poison pill, but it would be instantly rejected by the Senate and I presume Reid/McConnell deal plans for this.

    •  Relax, it's pretty much a guarantee (0+ / 0-)

The Drunk Weepy Oompa-Loompa has no options left. He'll have to allow the vote on this or take responsiblity as the man who allowed default. He will not do that, lest Wall Street have his head on a spike. He's caught between a rock and a hard place and there's no more wiggle room. He's stuck.
