This action Puts Republicans in danger of extinction.   It allows a radical minority (of which Cantor is one) to control the majority party and paralyze government.

    Gaze into my crystal ball.....

It will probably force Obama to use the 14th amendment to extend or eliminate the debt ceiling (Ironic as it was passed by the Republican Majority at the time).  The World breathes a sigh of relief, the Full Faith and Credit of the United States remains unquestioned,  Republicans (or tea partyers) sue at the Supreme Court to void Obama's use of the Constitution.

Government remains shutdown, and public Opinion of Republicans continues to drop like a rock.  SCOUTS will uphold Obama's decision (they're Republicans, not Tea Partyers).  The rest of the country starts to REALLY pay attention (election season begins for everyone else) to the antics of the Tea Party, understand their control of the House and its results.

Hopefully, at that point the Republican party goes down to such a tremendous defeat at the next election that it becomes a regional player and goes the way of the Federalist Party.  Democrats become a single national party that will eventually split into their liberal and conservative parts one of which will eventually splinter off and create a new party.  Meanwhile common Citizens, (not necessarily the super rich)  get a few decades of peace and prosperity.

As I said, for Democrats, Cantor's move may not be such a bad thing eventually.
