That's what all the talking heads are saying.

I never bought it, beyond the normal firming up of base voters that always happens before election day.

NJ is Fools Gold for the GOP.  It flirts with them and they decide to make a move only to be disappointed on the day of the big dance.

      Booker will win by 12-14.

at least in 2010, showed the Republicans in the lead, not behind by 14 points.

Booker is only up by 10 in a NJ poll.

Tell me the last time a Republican won a senate race in NJ.

Hell they couldn't pull it off when they had the son of a prominent former governor running and the then state Atty Gen now Gov dug up some bullshit on the Dem just to smear him.

NJ is not PA.  Never was and never will be.  Republicans win governors races.  Lonegan won't get anywhere neat a senate seat unless he pays admission to visit it as a tourist.

          •  Im fairly confident (0+ / 0-)

that I am one of the LEAST OHNOEZ person on this site with a particular disdain for the "fight like we're 10 points behind".

My point was that I am uncomfortable with the dismissive "NJ is Fool's Gold" attitude.  Booker's race aside, which I do think is an absolute LOCK for us, I think we need to pay better attention to some of our "blue states" and not be content with a safe cushion in state-wide or national races while were are being undermined on a district by district basis.

Solid ground game an district-centric infrastructure is the thing that has made Max Baucus almost untouchable in a Red State like Montana and yet has us clinging to the urban population centers in places like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and (now) Virgina.

We can pay attention to some of our blue states and attack in red/purple states like Texas.  NJ Dems have a lot of issues, not the least of which is corruption and machine politics.  They are more likely to shoot themselves in the foot than not and there are far too many GOoPers in the state that skate by because the Dem state party refuses to fight and invest in the infrastructure needed to remove the GOP assholes.  That said, the GOP never seem to mount credible candidates for senate seats and the Dems do far better in turning out the base.  Booker will be no different with Newark and the urban centers in NE NJ.  Lonegan has no base other than the wackjob tea baggers.
