I have seen couples inflict damage on each other more severe than a pro boxing or MMA bout would cause.  Neither wins in the long run and the children are damaged by watching such events.  The best advice for someone in an abusive relationship is to run as far and as quickly as you can.

(BTW, abuse not only does not respect gender; it also does not respect class or upbringing.  I have seen abusers whose parents would never raise a hand to each other and I have seen children of abusers and those children would never strike a partner.  Really confusing at times at what creates an abuser)

As a man, even if you escape from the abuse, you can still have accusations leveled which will remove you from your own home, or keep you from returning to it.

Too many times, accusations are taken as fact and that can keep many men from coming forward knowing they can still be blamed even if they are the ones suffering the abuse.
