  •  Let's go through these: (4+ / 0-)

Medical device tax suspension: already has broad Democratic support.

Income verification: administrative change, doesn't alter the program.

High-level officials on exchanges: who gives a damn?

The only substantive policy change is a Democratic one. The rest is window dressing.

Total Republican cave. You can hang some pretty curtains over the entrance, but it's a still a cave.

All negotiations are threats to end the USA. They will never get tired of threatening to end the USA.

Only gun owners can control their guns and they say oopsie way too much. I lost it, I forgot it, it just went off. Support Gun Kill Speed Limits and Gun Ownership Speed Limits.

different from the senate compromise, but it lets boehner play tough and act like he's standing up for conservatives. kabuki theater to disguise the cave. this might actually allow him to keep his job.

seen that for a while.  The specfics weren't known,  but something had to happen that would either mollify the true believers or let him dump the Hastert Rule.

of a piece that makes enrolling people more difficult, administratively.

Presumably, if anyone's lying on their eligibility form, they'd owe remainder in tax liability anyway.  Plus, it reinforces the idea that people receiving government benefits are cheats.  It's not great.

At the same time, if this gets the Republicans down from the cliff, fine.  As I said upthread, though, the commitment has to be only to have votes on these things, the DL/CR bills themselves should be clean.

I think the only good thing to come out of this is the Republicans finally backed themselves into nominating conferees.  Maybe we can get some movement on the sequester and levels of funding going forward.

      Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.
