    ..going live. Unbelievable.

What is so unnerving about the candidacy of Sarah Palin is the degree to which she represents—and her supporters celebrate—the joyful marriage of confidence and ignorance. SAM HARRIS

Let's see your plan for "testing it before going live."  Have you ever done a website rollout?

I have.  I've never seen a rollout that didn't have glitches, but even these were nothing compared to the scope of this thing.

You could spend a lot of time whipping up a test plan with every failure scenario your combined brainpower could think of planned for and still find many more you never thought of, with a rollout of this size.

I'm not saying they didn't screw this thing up royally.  Clearly many mistakes must have been made.  But "not testing it beforehand" wasn't one of those.

Fundamentally, there's no good way to test a thing like this under the load it was going to face beforehand.  Problems were inevitable.

sTiVo's rule: Just because YOU "wouldn't put it past 'em" doesn't prove that THEY did it.
