  •  You like playing football. Swell. (0+ / 0-)

Discovering that was part of the motive for writing an inflammatory piece. I ask these same questions in sports bars and carefully monitor responses. I'm still convinced that we have a culture of violence and that American football is part of it. To me, that's not a good thing.

How did you vote in the poll? Is it OK with you to allow psycho parents to bully tiny boys into learning how to beat themselves to death playing football, or should we put some limits on it? That's all I'm trying to find out.

    •  Are you kidding with this? (0+ / 0-)

Unless a parent is overtly abusing a child in front of me, I have no business interfering in what they do with their children.  If I suspect it is going on behind closed doors, I might make a call.

I didn't like it when it was done to me and I sure as hell do not want to do it to someone else.

As for how I voted in the poll, I didn't. Most of the polls people stick up in this place are patently stupid.  I swore them off years ago.

Your tone is incendiary.  Read yourself: "psycho parents," "bully" and "beat themselves."

Here's the reality:  Most fathers will see if their sons will want to play football and have them try it for a year. I had my son try it for two.  Guess what?  He said no more after the second season and I RESPECTED HIS WISHES.

It sounds like you live in a world where all parents who want their children to participate in football are bullies.  THAT is just plain idiotic and narrow minded.

Bottom line: let parents raise their children the way they see fit. That is what a lot of conservatives mean when they talk about government overstepping their bounds.  This bullshit you're talking about.

If you want to live in Utopia, might I suggest that like some who don't want to be around minorities, you campaign for your own piece of land to create it.  A lot of us live in the reality based world.
