Though I say for every shut down that lasts more than one working day, that the House and Senate forgo pay, and live in a tent city by the tracks for the remainder of the shut down until it is solved.

Here's your cold can of Catfood Congressman! NOW GET BACK TO WORK!

Gentlemen, congratulations. You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training (Zed, MIB).

Leonard Lance (NJ-7), is not taking his salary and has vowed to not accept any back pay when the shutdown is over.  Too bad there are not more following his lead on the other side of the aisle.  Maybe if they felt the pain, too, things would be different.

      •  What happens to that money? (0+ / 0-)

Because if he donates it to a GOP campaign or the Heritage Foundation, then his "sacrifice" doesn't count.

            •  He can afford it, but it was a good gesture. (0+ / 0-)

He's one of the more reasonable Republicans here in NJ.  NJ-7 is a predominantly moderate Republican district, so the Tea Party regularly targets him.
