  •  The GOP's alternate universe is alive and well. (0+ / 0-)

Two years ago President Obama announced he would not compromise on a spending bill again. Then he repeated the statement many times afterward since then.
But, despite all evidence to the contrary, the GOP cannot give up their notion that Obama is the weakest, the most ineffective, the worst president ever. They cannot give up believing him to be nothing but a pushover when the chips are down.

They cling to their beliefs with so much desperate fervency that they ignored the President's worst mis-step of the year in failing to judge his attempt to intervene in Syria as a move that would meet American's approval. That was an issue that the GOP could have gained some real traction with.

But instead, they took another deep dive into their favorite failure once more, listening only to themselves and their shared delusions. With the worst possible timing ever, led by a teabagger who had them terrified.

Will they give up another attempt next year? No. No way. To do anything else would make them the villains of their own story.

They have to believe they are the only hard working, righteous, brave and noble  real Americans left. Everyone else is nothing but a moocher, a bloodsucker who takes everything from them, and a bunch of illegitimates worth nothing but their contempt.

Everyone is the hero of their own story. No one likes to be found a criminal, even when they are trapped and caught in crimes of their own device.

We will go through another attempt. It won't be over ObamaCare next time, but they will find some triviality to go to war with. Their own reality, different from all others, dictates it and they can do nothing but obey to the end.

This will not end as long as Obama is President. We must prepare ourselves for more obstruction to come. That's all they have, all they have ever had, and all they will have for a long time to come.

Right many are called, and damn few are chosen.

    •  And they manage to believe 2 opposites (0+ / 0-)

      simultaneously.

This week I've been holding my nose and tuning in to FOX to see what they were making of this whole shenanigan.

Here's what some female anchor had to say, "Obama has consistently refused to negotiate with Republicans."

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.  It's what she said - over and over and over to anyone who would listen.  And the bobbleheads just nodded along with her.  Every guest she had on agreed with her "assessment."

So, while Congress believes he's a pushover who would topple the first time they huffed and puffed at him, FOX was pounding the, "He refuses to negotiate," drum.
No matter the fact that the R's have consistently shouted from the rooftops that "Negotiate is a 4 letter word.  We will never negotiate with any Democrat ever." [Code for, "We will never negotiate with this black guy who broke into the White House which is, btw, called "White" for a reason!"]

      Go figure.

Yes, I have no doubt they will try again.  May he hold tough the next time around.  Please.  May he have learned, finally, finally, that one cannot negotiate in good faith with those who only bring bad faith to the table.  Please.
