    William Wallace was a minor Scottish nobleman who won some battles and lost the war, not a charismatic peasant leader (that was Mel's wet dream). After losing Wallace's war, King Edward had him strangled by hanging(and there's no record he yelled "Freedom!" at the end), cut down while still alive, emasculated, eviscerated, had his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts while his preserved head (dipped in tar) was placed on a pike atop London Bridge.

    We haven't even hung Ted Cruze yet . . .    :-)

    And Scotland's still in the United Kingdom 600 years later.
