  •  I wonder how long it would take George Carlin (3+ / 0-)

      and Jonathan Swift.

Neither would last a week here.

And Orwell?  He'd be banned so fast it would break the internet.

They'd probably post funny things and get peoples' attention and be misinterpreted, but kicked off the place?  Nah.

Occasionally I say things like 'I think of religions as widely-accepted conspiracy theories' and generally don't get hate or such for them.

Comedians do more than just use foul language or make sweeping declarations.  They point out things that are funny.

For instance, George Carlin once pointed out that he thinks it's funny that alien enthusiasts (UFO fanatics) are treated like they're lunatics by the mainstream media.  But in the same programs, the people who believe that someone who performed various magic tricks for an audience a long, long time ago represented an all-powerful force that controls the entire universe is treated as being a reasonable, normal person.

I think that's funny too.  It's just one of the things that's funny about our society.
