    Dream ticket.

How come you folks here are so down on both of them?

    •  No way Cruz is second fiddle... (5+ / 0-)

... If Cruz wouldn't allow people who graduated from 2nd tier Ivy League schools into his study group - what do you think Cruz thinks of Palin's intellectual powers?

that Cruz is wicked smart, by virture of his Ivy League degrees and debate-champion status.

I've yet to see empirical evidence of this.  To channel Rush Limbaugh in a more appropriate context, I think the media is very desirous for conservative politicians to show intellectual heft.  I think there's a little hope invested in Cruz and he got a lot of credit he didn't really deserve.  Take, for example, his attempt at lecturing Feinstein on gun control:

For congress to engage in the same endeavor that we are contemplating doing with the Second Amendment. In the context of the first or Fourth Amendment namely. Would she consider it constitutional for congress to specify that the First Amendment shall apply only to the following books.
The problem here is not his condescention.  The problem is the absurdity of the parallel.  Because we don't ban Mein Kampf, we can't ban assault weapons?  Could there possibly be a difference between types of books and types of weapons?  Not to mention that we can and do ban literature specifically designed to incite violence.  No constitutional right is unlimited.  Not the First, not the Fourth, and certainly not the Second.

I'd have to read more of his teabagging prose to ascertain whether there is any real brilliance there, or just the same self-righteous theorizing that can't withstand a single round of cross.

But so far, color me unimpressed.  Even compared to his peers; I find both Rand Paul and Tom Coburn, crazy and wrong as they may be, to be much more thoughtful speakers.

First they came for the slippery-slope fallacists, and I said nothing. The End.
