  •  I wondered how this was going to be (6+ / 0-)

received. I think it's disingenuous of Mitch to claim he had nothing to do with it since he was clearly the principle negotiator with Reid - he had to approve of it at the very least.

Tea Partyers supposedly don't like pork or government spending so they will have to take a very odd position of chastising McConnell for bringing them jobs and money, even as they benefit from those jobs and that money.

I haven't seen any evidence as yet that the Tea Partyers are even capable of cognitive dissonance, so I have no doubt that they will take the jobs and money while excoriating him at the same time. It will be interesting to see what they come up with -

"Mitch! You're making us dependent on federal funds! Next you'll be giving us Obamaphones!"

"No Mitch, what we wanted was a bootstrap factory that we funded ourselves with bake sales and now you've ruined all that forever!"

Will there be ads showing sinister pictures of Mitch and a voice-over of "Mitch McConnell, bringing jobs to Kentucky when we don't want them. Tell him to take his big federal money back to his Washington cronies. This ad brought to you by the Kentucky RoadKill Alliance."

Can't wait to see it play out.
