the whole entire debt ceiling is fiction and they all know it..

They just didn't want to go the last yard and invalidate it.

We didn't need to help Mitch out in the process.

You do realize we made sure he got his dam(n) earmark as part of the deal? You know that means his teabagger opponent will be attacking him harder from the right. We might not see a McConnell/Grimes race in the fall.

In fairness to McConnell, this appears to not have been his doing.

Though initial signs indicated that this was a private concession made to McConnell to get him on board with the bill, subsequent reporting muddies the waters a bit. The Washington Post reports that President Obama, not Senator McConnell, requested this funding, while Buzzfeed reports that “[a]lthough the language was inserted by Feinstein and Alexander, whose home state of Tennessee would also benefit from the project, McConnell has been its historical champion.”

He might be a money sucking jackass but he's not as stupid as we'd like to believe. No, I think he got played on this. But it doesn't matter, he's going to have to stand up in front of foaming-at-the-mouth teabaggers and explain why he allowed the project approval to happen.
