  •  Ya THINK? (5+ / 0-)

Look what happened in 2010. We should have had the GOP on the ropes. Then this party leadership decided to put everything they had into the ACA, right off the bat pretty much as soon as the President took office. It sucked up a metric fuckton of oxygen and it got so contentious and ugly--particularly when we all learned about the backroom dealing with Big Pharma and found out that "single payer" was "Off The Table". That and a half-dozen other things, like war criminals skate, austerity talk starts ramping up, OWS gets slammed and banks were suddenly Too Big to Prosecute. And still no jobs and no end in sight to the misery. Disillusionment reigned supreme in the runup to the midterms. And we got burned bad.

And here we are again, four years later. This party's "leadership" is headed for the same kind of crash-and-burn in 2014 if they don't knock this Catfood Commission out for good and stop the goddamn pounding on the Deficit Reduction meme.  That is bullshit. It is time to invest in this country and we can't do that unless they tax these fucking rich deadbeats and we have some revenue to invest with.

If this party's leadership doesn't understand that basic, fundamental Democratic principle--investing in this country and our people--then they are no longer worthy of our support. Any one of them who would betray The People's Earned Benefits or any other facet of the New Deal by cutting it or otherwise screwing it up need to fuck off out of this party, either voluntarily or primaried.

It's time to get medieval on some asses here. It's almost 2014 now.

This all started with "what the Republicans did to language".

    •  I'd argue that it was much more about (0+ / 0-)

the bailout of Wall St with no concomitant bailout of Main St, plus no prosecution of Wall St (and it being obvious there would never be any).  Though a strong, vibrant jobs program would have probably helped enough to keep 2010 pro-Dem. Without help with unemployment, and with the crappy Admin policies on Wall St and the mortgage crisis, we were f**ked.

When you promise people hope and change and then they lose their jobs and their houses and you do nothing about it, despite holding both houses of Congress and the Presidency, you shouldn't be surprised if you get "shellacked."

I tried to go online to find a similar bear head...but when I searched “Big Bear Head” it gave me a San Diego craigslist ad entitled “Big Bear needs some quick head now” and then I just decided to never go on the internet again.--Jenny Lawson
