because they've seen what they can accomplish if they stand together.  The Repugnicans have understood this for a long time.  Their caucuses are practically fused into a solid mass, while the Dems have historically demonstrated the ability for independent thought, not just what their Fearless Leader tells them to think.

The fracture in the GOP really started to show when Reid lowered the boom on the filibuster abuses.  Until then you cold pretty well bet that once McTurtleboy took a position, the rest of the Senate GOP was going to line up behind him.  But when we heard Corker call bullshit on him, I knew we were seeing the first substantive crack in the wall.  And then Cruz blew a hole in it.

But what was so impressive about Cruz's idiocy was that it wasn't limited to the Senate chamber. He managed to frag the GOP contingent in BOTH houses.  That's real talent.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.

    •  They will (5+ / 0-)

The Democrats have now experienced what it means to be unified against the crazies.  I don't think this will go away in February when we come up to the next debt ceiling raise.

[Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security] do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great.
