    strategies for the Dems for 2014 but here is an idea  that is directly tied to the topic of defense spending and sequestration.

    Nationalize the elections around the stance on the Grand Bargain and have two demands.  One is that the GOP does the same and have both plans scored by the CBO by July.

    Why would this be favorable to the Dems?  Well, we already basically know what the Repubs would offer, right?  Large defense spending, drastic safety net cuts AND they would follow the Ryan budget plan of gutting SS and Medicare and do all of this without any tax revenue increases.

    If you already know what they would basically offer, you could deliberately craft your plan that would be far more appealing to centrists and left of center people that is also consistent with the beliefs of the Democratic party as a whole.  I could go into how this would help fracture the Repubs, relatively unite the Dems, create a mandate, etc. but I would be curious about initial reactions, if any to the idea.
