who is approaching retirement?  I don't get the trade off.  If everyone has a job then it's okay to eradicate social security, medicare, medicaid ... not likely!  How wealthy do you think people will be in retirement?  All the data indicates that the answer is less than 100K in savings.

    •  I didn't say it was OK. I oppose it. (0+ / 0-)

I oppose Social Security cuts under any circumstances.

When I say we must have one or the other, either earned benefits or guaranteed full employment at a living wage, what I mean is this: not that it would be good policy to cut earned benefits, but that society cannot function if we cut earned benefits without revolutionizing how we treat our labor force.

People retiring right now would suffer if we cut earned benefits and replaced it with full employment. And people near to retirement as well. And the already retired. That's one reason I don't support the policy. But if we had full employment at a true living wage, based on a real assessment of cost of living rather than a politicized one, society itself would not crumble under the pressure of that suffering.

If they cut earned benefits without giving the majority of the population the opportunity to earn a true living wage, they will destroy this country and leave nothing but dust and ashes.

One way hurts people over 55. The other reduces America to ash.  I'm not advocating for either; I don't see why the fucking government can't just pay Social Security back. The defense dept. essentially took that money; let them deal with the cuts it'll take to put the money back into the trust fund.

Leaving Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid alone is the better deal for the 1% bastards. They should take that deal. They've become billionaires under it.

I tried to go online to find a similar bear head...but when I searched “Big Bear Head” it gave me a San Diego craigslist ad entitled “Big Bear needs some quick head now” and then I just decided to never go on the internet again.--Jenny Lawson
