    which I hope come into play:

    Immigration reform is a net plus all around - it helps the economy and helps alleviate pressure on Social Security and Medicare as well as increases tax revenues.

    Raising the minimum wage - as you mentioned yesterday, a big chunk of minimum wagers are on some form of federal assistance. Raising the minimum wage would actually reduce federal spending and increase tax revenues all around in the same fashion as Immigration Reform.

    If there is a grand bargain, this is the type of thing I'd like to see.

      There is NO reason whatsoever to be fiddling with our social insurance programs right now.  Unless they're interested in putting some of that money BACK.
      Demand a decent living wage from these big box employers and they'll still make a profit, and the government can quit subsidizing them with taxpayer money.  And not incidentally the government would stop tacitly supporting big business quest to create a serf like workforce, with no benefits, low wages, no rights, no security, and no hope.
