  •  SNAP is causing suffering... (0+ / 0-)

and Michelle Obama is attempting to educate people and give them the tools for a healthier and more productive life.  I support SNAP as originally devised, but the program is causing a lot of suffering and RFK would oppose the current incarnation of the program especially in light of the environmental damage the food consumed in the US causes.  You support a program that is supported by Big Farm, Big Pharma, and Walmart--YOU need to get your "right-wing talking points" out of here!!  Big Farm and Walmart sell people cheap unhealthy food with food stamps and then Big Pharma gets Medicaid to pay for their drugs.

The Walmart EBT fiasco should be a wake-up call for all of us that support the First Lady and her important initiative!  We need to spend more money on "Let's Move" and less on Food Stamps and Medicaid...I did not know that was controversial statement?!?

    •  Not controversial? Really? (0+ / 0-)

Cutting food assistance and Medicaid for the poor is somehow mainstream, just because you think they're 'eating too much'?  Sorry, but that's a right-wing talking point, period.

And kids won't be able to 'move' if they're weakened by hunger.

you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows

      •  I clearly stated the programs need to be refocused (0+ / 0-)

on children and the disabled.  You shill for Big Farm/Food and Walmart and celebrate diabetes while people like our First Lady attempt to educate and improve Americans lives.  I bet you oppose smoking bans!

You would have everybody believe that those people at that Walmart in Louisiana finally got a chance to fill their carts with fresh fish and fresh vegetables, whereas the reality is that SNAP and Medicaid are broken because our culture promotes unhealthy can either be prepared healthy or unhealthy.  Our First Lady is attempting to change our culture through a public health campaign similar to how we REDUCED smoking...she is part of the solution and people like you are part of the problem.  We have a problem in America and that problem is excessive consumption of food...and it even afflicts Americans in poverty!
