    of technology without having to be constantly surveilled. I see no problem with that. No one here was arguing that the internet is bad, just that surveillance is bad.

      it's correct that, since "cloud" processes don't even take place on your machine, your work is one (or more) steps less secure on one of these nifty new toys than it is on a machine where you control the processor and the firewall.

      At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)
