  •  So is McConnell happy or worried? (5+ / 0-)

I'm not so sure that even in Kentucky being endorsed by Demint and Palin isn't the kiss of death.

    •  The shutdown was a loser even in Kentucky (3+ / 0-)

Thus, if the frog runs a good campaign, he can win

They are VERY difficult to poll because likely participants - especially likely GOP participants - are more apt to "shade" their actual intentions to poll interviewers.

This is for certain: McConnell does NOT have enough "cred" with Political Evangelicals for them to rally to him without taking "pledges." And Bevin is likely to push the jingoism button by citing Elaine Chao's...just about anything: her likely very comfortable income as member of a number of Corporate Boards, probably some (mostly imagined) role in Chinese economic...again, anything.

I don't think McConnell has much beside bags of money and the loyalty of the upper crust of Kentucky. That's probably not enough bodies to win a Primary in the TEActivist Era.

Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. --Martin Luther King Jr.

I think he is very concerned with the Grimes challenge.
He is spending like crazy against her campaign but virtually ignoring Bevins.
He primary strategy seems to be one of "Whistling Past Bevins."
I think going into Nov. 2014, he believes he can spin himself to KY voters as the man who came in when all seemed hopeless, and Saved America from default & collapse.
