    or "tropical butterfly weed" and it has become increasingly popular as butterfly awareness gains more attention. It's a perennial here so I just cut it to the ground after the first freeze. There is the orange/red variety and a solid yellow variety.

    If you aren't successful overwintering it and can't find it next spring let me know. It is usually readily available here.

      and see if I can get it to root.  Everywhere on blogs they say it is easier to root than to grow from seed.

      If they take, then every year I can have a new crop!

      I'm going to pick up some hay for mulching this year.  Once a frost has them die back, I'll mulch them over.  They are growing so beautifully right now... it's a shame that they'll die back!  I may take some more in for cuttings before any frost hits.
