      The numbers show that Dems performed very poorly in that district in 2010 and 2012, and that Valadao is fairly popular.

        Valadao owns a dairy in a district filled with them and is also ethnically Portuguese which is the same as a lot of the dairy and ranch owners there, which means he shouldn't be hurting for money. He has also taken enough moderate votes that he won't be lumped in with the rest of the GOP caucus. Democrats need a really good candidate in a midterm year to win this seat.

          gave him an ideal seat, and Costa rolled over for him. But this area is rapidly trending more Democratic. Give it one more cycle and Presidential turnout and I think Democrats will be in a position to be reorganized and beat Valadao. Right now, it seems like they are focused on defeating Vidak,
